A Closer Look Into Dark Nail Polish

Dark nail polish is one of those fashions statements which some have taken to while others haven’t. As winter approaches, more people will begin using the darker shades of fingernail polish to cover up their nails, since it will more easily match their wardrobe.

While dark polishes can often stain nails with an unpleasant yellowish tinge, many women find that it provides the perfect color fashion accessory and is necessary for a fall or winter outfit. Traditionally, dark Nail Polish colors denoted royalty in Ancient China and eventually it developed into a present day fashion statement in our modern society for the finger tips of the fashionable, chic and wealthy.

While it is best to save the black polish for Halloween, other darker shades in brown, deep red and purple will be a popular choice for the winter. Though favorite colors will vary with the times, they are all much more fun than a simple coat of black nail polish would be.

Take your time applying dark shades as mistakes will be more noticeable than it would be in a lighter shade of polish. You will have to check for chips and may have to reapply it daily to keep your nails looking perfect.

Those of you who are having your nails professionally done would do well to get the exact polish bottle they used, for consistency’s sake. Whatever you do, you don’t want to be caught with chipped nail polish in public; that simply would go against whatever fashionable look you’re attempting

Make certain to use a good base coat and top coat when using darker polish as it can leave an unsightly yellow stain on your natural nail when the polish is removed. A good base coat will separate your nail from the polish and spare you the hassle of staining.

You would do well to have a professional polish your nails if you’re wanting to attempt a darker nail polish color, but you aren’t confident enough in your application skills. All it takes is $10 at the nearest nail salon, and you’ll be set to go.
