How to Buy Curtains Without Going Broke

Everyone needs to buy curtains for their home eventually. The worst part is that every window probably needs them, which cost major dollars. Fortunately, there are ways to spend a little less, and this article is here to help.

Curtains run the gamut from heavy to sheer, quilted to lace. Once you decide what type of curtains you need, whether you are having them made or buying them already made; looking for used or looking for new, you can narrow down the venues that have what you need.

Some skillful DIYers like to make custom curtains by buying fabrics themselves and putting them on. It’s actually not that hard, but the lazy people obviously can’t do this.

Blinds are actually better than curtains in many cases but make sure you are okay with the look of it before committing just because of the cost. After all, it’s your house.

Obviously, the smaller the size, the cheaper it is. Therefore, don’t always look for ceiling to floor curtains as those are the most expensive. Think about your design and see if you can use less, which always saves more.

Sometimes you can find cloth remnants at a very good price. If one shop doesn’t have exactly what you need for all your rooms, another one will.

Thicker curtains are usually darker in color and don’t really look that great. Coupled with the higher price tag, I suggest you stay away from those if you want to buy new.

Department stores is a great place to find fabric, and offers good deals whenever they have those regular sales. Don’t always just settle with a specialty store.

Most people have standard size windows, which makes it easy to buy ready made curtains. They are usually cheaper, and best of all, you can see a sample before you buy.

Department stores and specialty shops carry a wide selection. Even if the store is not having a sale, many managers will give a discount to a customer buying multiples of the same items.
