Portable Generators and their Different Uses

The modern world is obsessed with small things. As the world shrinks because of the Internet, so do everyday things. The telephone, for example, has shrunk to a device that you can put inside your pocket. The television is becoming flatter and flatter that soon you will be able to hang it on a wall the way you hang a picture frame.

What’s more, even machinery that used to be categorized as huge and hefty can now be classified as bring-anywhere tools. Case in point is the electrical power generator. Will you believe that the same power generator that can power your house can also be used to provide your electrical needs while on location, say, in the jungle for your camping trip or a hamburger grilling picnic at the park?

The electrical generator have shrunk so much you can literally hand-carry one that can provide sufficient power for a camping trip or a mobile home. You can fit one inside the trunk of your car and have it provide sufficient power for a mini concert, a picnic or get some construction done.

Certainly, power generators are not anymore used just as emergency power backups (e.g. blackouts) as they been transformed into all-around machines that you can use for other purposes that involve outdoor fun activities

So what else can you do with the small portable generators coming out these days? Uses that relate to recreation activities include RV caravan road tripping, outdoor camping, outdoor partying, concerts, races, trade shows, Sunday picnics at the park, or any other outdoor events.

But please do not forget that distinct uses may require varying sizes of power generators. The general rule of thumb is that the more power you need, the bigger generator you need. Each generator also has different output levels so a buyer needs to take this in consideration.

For light usage that entail providing electricity for laptops, lights, TVs and small appliances, a small 1000 watts generator may be adequate but if you are planning on powering, refrigerators, heaters, you may need to get those in the range of 3,500 watts and above.

If you are looking for power generators that will be used as emergency backup only for blackouts or unannounced power cuts, you will probably need those in the 3000 watts range and above, especially if you are planning to provide emergency power to your entire house.

Albeit there is a considerable reduction in sizes, the general rule is still applicable. The greater the electricity you require, the bigger power generator you need. This is why if the size of the generator is a factor for you, then you will need to do a little weighing in terms of advantages and disadvantages to arrive at your final buying assessment.
